| We have a network with few computers at our workplace. At last few months, I had the filling that our network works rapidly slower then earlier. At first, I thought that I am just imaging it. However, yesterday in one moment I even thought that some network hardware had to be disconnected. I found out that our 100Mbps switch works at 10Mbps. Could weather problems cause disconnection? |

| I am sure that nobody disconnected any of your network hardware. Weather also cannot cause your network problem unless some thunder burned your network equipment. If you are not certain that all network computer have 100Mbits lan cards then be sure to check that immediately before anything else. If one of them has 10 Mbits lan card all the other will automatically reduce their speed. Also, check that maybe somebody did not reduce the speed of any 10/100Mbps network adapter to work at lower rate. You have a switch as you say, and most switches nowadays have auto sense option. That means that if only one computer in the network has lower connection speed, switch automatically reduce the speed of all the other computers in the network to that speed. Otherwise, you will all have to set your card to 10Mbps if you want that your network work correctly. I hope you will find this helpful. |
