verizon blocking certain websites

Hello. I've been unable to access certain sites since I switched ISP (from Comcast to Verizon), even though I can still access them form another connection. I also recently read about some legal issue over whether or not internet providers should be allowed to restrict access to certain sites, such as those of their competition… is this about that? Is Verizon actively limiting where I go and what I do on the Internet? Does that mean that law got passed?

I take it you're referring to the Net Neutrality campaign? If this is the case, then it's highly unlikely that your current problem is related to that. My guess would be that it would have to do with your network/router settings rather than your ISP. You should do a trace route anyway, to see where the chain breaks.
