Hello. I have heard a lot of good things about this file format. Many people are saying that it holds a lot more of originality than any other video format, and that I’ll be less responsible if I keep the material on my hard drive. But why is only windows media player capable to play this kind of files? Winamp can play other divX video formats, but not wmv. What could be wrong? Thanks in advance.

The problem with Winamp is because you don’t have required plug-in for support of .wmv video files perhaps. Winamp is by the way music player in first place, you won’t find that much friendly support for the rest of the stuff, or I just never liked that program. Anyway, windows media video format should be supported by the default. Why don’t you try to remove all of your video codecs from the system, and after the reboot, just install some free codec package. They are all downloadable. That just must resolve your problem.
