| Hello. I have installed Linux SUSE 10 on my new HDD and have created custom partitions for it. Than, When It was installed I tried accessing my two NTFS old partitions, with Windows XP installed where all my files were stored and I can not use read nor access any of them. What shall I do now? Many thanks, in advance |

| Hi there. Well, as you already know Linux has problems accessing NTFS partitions, no matter which version you have installed. It is highly possible that now only the root has the ownership on your partitions and whatever is on them and that you have to change that somehow. I am not a computer expert at all, and I am especially not an expert when it comes to Linux, but I think you should type in 'chmod -fR 777 [directory]’ in the Console. It is a command which should could give everyone access to the folders/sub folder and files. I think you should try this out, maybe it will work out for you. |
