I had to use the system recovery disks that my sony vaio desktop made be burn ages ago, and I'm really losing patience with them. The recovery thing insists I partition the HD into set sizes, and resets to the defaults when I change them! I went through this twice now, with same results. I won't want the set C drive size, I want it bigger because I have a lot of stuff to install there, and the XP user files (My Documents and all that) always go there, too! Is there any way to change this, or is this impossible to change? Why would there be a "change" option (which doesn't work) if it's impossible?

Accept the default sizes for now, and install just the OS. Before installing all these programs you want onto C:\, get some partitioning software off the net (like Partition Magic, for example), and use it to cut up your HDD any way you want. BTW, you do know it's possible to change Win XP settings to have it store My Documents and Program Files onto drives other than C, don't you?
