| Basically, the software shutdown doesn't seem to work any more. It seems to just hang and hang endlessly, until I get bored of waiting and just power it off. I googled this problem, but all the pages I find (including official ones: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;878474) seem to be only about problems after installing Service Pack 2… but I've had SP 2 for a long time, and this problem is fairly recent. Any fresh ideas on this? |

| Well, what did you try already, then? I assume the MS support site link didn't help? If that's the case try the following, it helped a friend of mine: Go to the Run menu, type "regedit". From there, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop, and find an entry called "AutoEndTasks", set it to 1 (if it's not already at that). Then find "WaitToKillHungAppTimeout", and set it to 4000. Does that help? |
