| My computer is broken so here is what is happening. I start copying some files and then hard drive starts to make those noises. Like some mechanical part is hitting its surface, that is what it sounds like. So, I dont have another choice then to reboot. But when I try to copy it once again, the hitting starts again. That will damage my hard disk, that is for sure. How to prevent my computer from doing this? I didnt mess with my hardware or anything everything is covered by 2 years warranty. Is there a way to get the new hdd from my vendor with this kind of problem? |

| Well, that depends on lots of factors. Firstly, they will try to repair it. It is silly if you think they will give you a new one just like that. They will try to repair it, and then if they dont succeed, you could get a new hard drive. I think that a problem is in your file system. As strange as it sounds, bad file system configuration can cause your hdd to act strangely. What is type of your hdd, SATA or IDE. And who is the manufacturer? Maxtor, Seagate, Western Digital? Contact your vendor and ask them if they recommend you software for your drive. I am using Seagate for example and I got this Hddcheck which is telling me certain things about my file system. How many clusters, sectors, bad sectors I have and a few similar things. It can actually repair my drive if its broken. That is the way you deal with your drive. You cannot repair it physically, can you? That is the job for your manufacturer, right. |
