I am planning to set up a Linux server for my home network. I just want to experiment a little bit and to learn things. I have decided to use openSuse 10.2 for this. I have some experience with Linux but I have never set up a server. Can you tell what I have to configure so my Linux server will work as a router and be able to assign IP addresses to clients. Thank you in advance.

Hello. When you install openSuse go to Yast and set DHCP server to start automatically when booting. Enter desire IP range for DHCP and save settings. Router configuration will be little harder. Go to security and click firewall. You will have to masquerade IP addresses here so computers in network will have the same public address when they go on internet. Set other things in firewall as desired and you are ready to go.
