I had only one desktop computer connected through my Netgear router and it worked fine, though it wasn't me who did the setup originally. Now, I'm trying to add a second machine, and it's harder than I thought it would be. I figured I'd just hook it up and the router will handle it with the same settings it had for the first one, but… I can't get internet access at all from the 2nd machine. The 1st one still works OK. Any help on how to set this up would be great, thanks.

The first thing you need to do is check your DHCP settings. Go to the Run menu, type "command", and enter "ipconfig /all" at the prompt. You should see the assigned IP address here – if it's something like 169.xxx.xxx.xxx, that's not good. If it's something else, compare it to the IP of your first computer (same procedure). In any case, if they don't match you open up the Properties window for your LAN connection, go to "Internet Protocol TCP/IP" and check the "Obtain IP Automatically" and "Obtain DNS Server Automatically" boxes.
