I have a computer for last four years and I never had any problems with it. It has Windows 98 on it and it is not woulnerable on virus attacks. However, yesterday while I was on the Internet my computer just shut down. After that, when I start it again it reports regedit problem and won't run.

Windows 98 has much less possibilities that Windows XP and Vista, but it is much less woulnerable for virus attacks then its "younger" brothers. If your computer shuts, while working it hardly has something with virus attacks from the Internet. Power failure or CPU overheating is much more possible solutions for that mystery. If your computer won't start after that, you should restore the backup copy of your register. First, break your Windows 98 boot by pressing F8 key several times and then choose Command prompt mode. When the prompt shows, type next line: scanreg /restore and press enter. After that, restart your machine once again and I think that will solve your problem.
