OK, here's the deal: I've been reading up on some game reviews / ads, and a note caught my attention. It says "Buyer should be responsible for establishing game PC compatibility before purchase", or something to that account (not an exact quote).
Here's an example page (not the one I originally saw it on, but doesn't matter):
http://cgi.ebay.com/THE-SIMS-2-NIGHTLF -6CD-PC-GAME-i-VD_W0QQitemZ330075409781QQih014QQcategoryZ11053QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item330075409781
Is this some new marketing ploy, or did I just miss it earlier? Does this mean that they can safely sell you a game that doesn’t work on the PC (say, a PS version) without you knowing it? |

Well, now you're just being paranoid. As far as I can tell, that compatibility quote (?) of yours is just a snippet from the standard legal mumbo-jumbo, and isn't particularly meaningful. I don't think it means what you seem to think it means. I'm pretty sure it means that you should keep in mind system requirements and all that.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong here. |
