Is this true? I'm probably going to be making the switch from PC to Mac (at least partially), but I'm worried about what I've been hearing about OSX being woefully slow, especially with browsers. Could any non-biased Mac user confirm or disprove this for me? Thanks in advance.

It's all relative, you know. Memory management is significantly slower, but specific applications go both ways – internet-related ones like browsers and e-mail clients can be a little slow. However, most disk-related operations are faster than on the PC. Still, the main advantage of OS X over Windows is the stability, definitely not speed. Your mileage may vary.
