During startup my Windows 98 box gives me an error saying oleaut32.dll is out of date. This program requires a newer version. After that I am unable to get rid of that message and desktop will not show. What is this oleauto32.dll and how can I fix this problem.
Some program on you computer needs newer oleauto32.dll file because it is compiled with newer version of Microsoft VisualBasic. You can solve this by downloading Visual Basic runtimes and Windows scripting host from official Microsoft web site or by downloading only oleauto32.dll from dll-files.com. If you download only that file save it on floppy diskette and boot computer from floppy. Then copy file from floppy in your system32 directory.
