About a week ago I got the hal.dll error on my IBM ThinkPad PII and I couldn’t boot anymore. Then I made boot disks from Microsoft’s site and on the sixth and the last of them I get this: STOP: c0000221 unknown hard error\systemroot\system32\ntdll.dll.
Right after I turn my computer on the IBM diagnostics tells me there is a HDD problem. I really hope that’s not the case since there is a lot of things on my HD that I need. What should I do now? Any ideas?
You should first make sure that it’s the hard drive problem by taking it to someone else’s machine and setting it as a slave there. Then you’ll be able to see if your HD is faulty. You could also download that .dll file to replace it in your system and it should be alright. Try finding it here: You just need to know a bit about DOS. If you don’t, feel free to ask for assistance. I hope this helps.
