I have two ancient PC boxes just wasting space, and I wanted to make some use of them by practicing my (non existent) networking skills, connect them via router for the exercise.
Now, the one thing that bugs me is the fact that one PC has Win XP installed, and the other is running some version of Win 2K. Should that be a problem? Because if I have to replace the OS on one of them, that'd probably be too much of a hassle…

| Shouldn't be too much of a problem, but you won't be able to connect them right away. What you do is start up the local networking wizard on the XP box, and once it is nearly completed it should prompt you for what you want to do, either create a floppy disk install to take to the 2nd machine, or use your XP install disk for the same purpose. |
