I have a problem with my modem and my netgear rp614 router. I bought whole components for my new computer and I wanted to combine them together all by myself. After I did almost everything, a problem comes out. When I plug my modem at the end, I have a problem that my netgear rp614 cannot establish connection and my modem also won't work. Does anybody have some advice?
There are few ways you could follow to solve your problem. Some solutions are faster then the others. The fastest solution you could try is to reconnect your cable in another socket on your modem. Manufacturers could sometimes make an error in marking sockets on modems. If that do not work try to remove your modem to some other slot on your motherboard. You should also try to find out the same modem as yours and try that one. If that one works well then your modem is probably damage. Try another model of modem in your machine. Some modems will simply not work with some chipsets. The best-known example for that are Lucent or Agere and nForce. If nothing of that work, you have to reinstall your Windows from the beginning. I will personally advise you to do that because of your router.
