I was backing up my hard drive and system suddenly rebooted. Hard disk became invisible to file manager. It has a 160 GB of free space, and 16 mb of buffer. Manufacturer is Western Digital, and its completely new. I checked all connections and power supply. Everything seems ok. Funny thing is that I managed to access it with an external case. I connected it to my friends lap top and there was no problem there. I unplugged it, connected to my system, but no, it cannot be seen. Any ideas?

| Did you check the control panel? Go to hardware devices section and check for mistakes. Although, I believe that you damaged it. During a back up, some of the mechanical devices inside has went off, or some of the electronic systems might be broken already. But then, how it can be seen on a lap top. Check you cables. Connect a different device with same cable and see if its working. There is a BIOS feature which can help you. Reboot and go to BIOS. Select a first option, and see if the system reports your drive. Thats all of me, I hope I helped you a bit. OH, yeah, what is your OS? |
