Hi. I have a problem with Maxtor HDD capacity. I have bought 160GB Maxtor hard drive and installed it. I have noticed that Windows shows hard drive has only 149.8 GB capacity. Hard drive is new and I have created one partition that took all unallocated space. Why this hard drive has 10.2 GB less then it should have. Should I return it?

Hello. This is a common thing and source of confusion. Hard drive manufacturers are using usual base 10 system, while all other software and hardware manufacturers are using, for computers, common base 2 system. So, for hard drive manufacturer 1000 MB = 1 GB while for Windows 1024 MB = 1 GB. So, your Maxtor HDD does not have capacity problem.
