What is this file, and what does it do? My Firewall reported it trying to access the internet a couple of times, but my AV wouldn't detect ti as contaminated, so I found it and deleted it manually. Now I'm afraid I might've messed things up in Windows, though I don't know for sure. IE crashed twice since then, but that isn't such a rare occurrence anyway… So, can someone tell me is this loadqm.exe thing a virus or spyware, or is it necessary for Win XP to function?

Actually, it's none of the above. Loadqm.exe is indeed a Windows component, but by no means a n essential one. It's part of MSN Messenger, an insanely annoying little IM application that most Windows users eventually choose to remove. Deleting that .exe file wouldn't do damage to your system, so just relax… and form now on, quarantine first, delete later.
