I think I have problem with my linksys wireless router and I decided to do something about it. Zone Alarm is reporting that it has blocked over 600 port scans that somebody tried to do over the internet. I thought that my router has also built in firewall and that Im pretty secure behind it. How can this happen, and is the zone alarm enough to protect me from these attacks. If not could you recommend me which software is good enough to do this job? Im already starting to panic because I dont want my private data to be exposed to hackers. How can I protect from them?

Well its not easy to protect from hackers when they are really good. But if you dont have some secrets they want there is a small chance that they will try to hack you. So probably first you need to relax and take a deep breath. Next? Well you already using a Firewall so I suppose you are very well protected already. Your hardware firewall doesnt need to be turned one if you are having a software one. Ok maybe you will have even more protection but seems you are having enough already. But from my knowledge your router should deal with these attacks also.
Find option in the Linksys' config screen "block WAN requests" if you cant find that option you will have to update firmware from your router.(by the way firmware is a new software for it).
Check also which ports are forwarded on you router, and close the one you dont need to use. For example if you torrent application uses 56333 port, this one needs to stay opened.
