Hello, all. I've been trying to connect a Mac (running OS X) to a PC (Windows XP) through an ieee.1394 connection (FireWire), but I'm having difficulties. Both boxes show an active 1394 connection, and there are no alerts or error messages of any kind but… The PC refuses to acknowledge the Mac, and no file transfer or internet connection sharing is possible. The network settings are according to the FireWire sharing guide at Apple.com. I'd be grateful for any help, thanks in advance.

My guess would be that stubborn network settings in XP are the problem. Double check if the default configuration isn't sticking around – compare the DNS settings to that on the Mac. Still, I've found that this kind of sharing usually isn't worth the trouble, You're better off just getting a router and setting it up that way.
