I'm trying to set up a small LAN at home, and I can't seem to do it. XP's network wizard keeps giving me this error message that says that the network is disconnected, and I should plug in my cables "or otherwise connect the network hardware". As far as I can see, all cables are plugged in OK and working. My guess would be that the ieee "wireless network adapter" thingy is what's failing. I don't rightly know what kind of network card that is, or how to check up on it. Is that board-integrated, the model listed in the subject? I heard that integrated cards are generally crap, should I just go out and get another?

With what little information you provided, it's almost impossible to say what exactly is wrong. Still, you can check whether or not your wi-fi card is integrated in the Device Manager – right-click My Computer, choose Properties, go to the Hardware tab, and click the Device Manager button there. You should look in the network adapters category, tell us exactly what you've got listed there.
