I have asus p4c800-e-deluxe with 512 Mb RAM and 36.7gig wd. sata drive. I’m trying to add an 18 gig wd ide drive to my system on secondary ide port but the machine cannot see it. The jumper is set to master. What am I doing wrong? Should I perhaps try to connect it to the primary ide port along with my cdrw? Thanks in advance!

First of all, did you change the BIOS so that all the IDE ports are enabled? Can you see the hd in BIOS? If you can and you are running XP you should click ‘Start’ and then right click ‘My Computer’. Here you should select ‘Manage’ and after that ‘Disk Management’. I think you should be able to allocate it and make it active from there.
