| Hello people. I was using Ubuntu Linux for a little while, together with Windows XP. And now I must admit, I dont need Ubuntu. In fact, what should I to do in it? The old habits are very strong and that is Windows. By the way I need more space on my hard drive. How to uninstall Ubuntu and get my partition back in order for Windows? Please help, my System Administrator is away at the moment, and I simply must do this. Thanks. |

| I suppose that you want to play some intensive game on your computer, and you just want to claim some more space. Am I Right? First of all, you cant just uninstall Ubuntu like other piece of software. You can better say delete the OS. And thats not so complicated. Copy all of data from Ubuntu file system, any document you might need later, to a windows partition. I hope you are using NTFS. If you are using FAT32, Partition Magic can do a work for you. After you did back-up your data, you can do all of the rest job from within Computer Managment console in XP. Right click on My Computer, than choose manage. Than go to disk managment. And youll see there all of your partitions and one unknown. Right click on it and choose delete logical drive if Ubuntu wasnt on primary partition. Otherwise would be delete logical drive. And thats it. Delete it completely, and you will have more free space. Ubuntu is uninstalled. Later, you can resize your first partition next to the empty one with Partition Magic Pro or just make a new one. Now the Linux boot loader can be easily fixed from widows recovery console. But, let your administrator finish that. |
