| Hello everyone. I want to spread my satellite signal all over my neighborhood. Thats no more than 150 meters around me. Eight or nine homes need to be covered. Now, what is better as equipment? Software or hardware routers, etc..? And my clients, what are they going to need? Thank you all willing to help in advance. |

| Sharing wont be the problem, Wi-Fi or UTP, doesnt matter. Both works nice. Hardware routers were always better solution. Sharing is the most simple thing here. You already have a connection created. Now give your neighborhood group name, and put some of IPs inside the TCP/IP protocol option boxes. For example, 10.0.1.10 as IP, subnet : 255.255.255.0. Gateway isnt required at this time. Before that check the Allow internet connection sharing option. And, all other users will have their Gateway as your IP: 10.0.1.10. Their IPs should be than :10.0.1.20, 30, 40 .... Subnet is the same. Now this works only if you are using phone line for start. Consider that if you can enable upload over, at least 5 -8 kb/s, for your users, than its worth of trying. Oh, and put all that on Windows 2003 advanced server. |
