| I'm having difficulties trying to pull this off. I've got his internal IDE hard disk that I'm trying to add to my system, and I can't get it to ID properly. Now, I know that there are jumpers in the back that I need to set up correctly for the drive to function as a slave (if it's set to master now), but I just don't know how to set them. I'd search on the net, but I don't even know the model of the drive, so I don't know what to search for! Is there any way out of this situation? |

| You should be able to learn both your hard disk model and your jumper settings by simply looking at the back of the drive, where stickers should have both displayed clearly. If it somehow turns out there are absolutely no markings there, here's what you do: Leave the jumpers as they are, and try the drive alone at each position – primary, secondary, master, slave – until you find one where it works. Then go to BIOS and read the model of the drive. Then use that online to find the jumper settings for the position you want. |
