A little while ago a maintenance guy made a restore point on my machine before testing something, and explained to me what it did. At that time it turned out it wasn't necessary to restore, but since then, I messed things up in Device manager, disabled something or other, and the same goes for Windows services. So, I want to restore the system to that previous setting, but I don't know how? Is the restore point saved as a file or folder on the hard drive somehow? If so, how do I search for it? If not, do I access it from the Control Panel, and how/where? Thanks in advance,

In Windows XP (I assume that's what you're talking about), you can access the System Restore center form the help page. Go to desktop (close or minimize everything), and then press F1. You should see a help window, and there should be a line to the right saying something like "undo harmful changes using system restore". Click that, and you should get where you want to be. There may be a direct way, through the start menu I suppose, but I don't know of one.
