I got a LinkSys wireless router some months ago, and it's working fine. However, it's really a pain in the ass having to configure the ports for each new device I add to the network. I am told I should just assign static IPs if I don't plan on removing the machines, but I'm not quite sure how to do that? Can anyone help, please? I'm using Win XP with SP 2, BTW. Thanks.

Right-click your connection, and choose Properties. Select the Network tab, then Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and click Properties. Here, instead of "Obtain an IP address automatically", check "use the following address". Make sure that you specify the address you got from ipconfig /all, and make sure the IP is different for each machine on the network. Don't forget that you need to change this if you take your machines to work on another network.
