I reinstalled my system (Win XP) the other day, and I even used the same install CD as before, but now Windows apparently won't recognize my sound card! I get the "Bad DirectSound output error" message, code 88780078, but I don't know what that means. It's an onboard SBcard, and the motherboard is Asus A7N266-VM. Any help? TIA.

What do you mean the OS won't recognize it? When you reinstalled the system, was the right card still displayed in Device Manager? I assume it is (and it just doesn't work), so what you need to do is update the drivers for your sound card/motherboard. Go to the Asus site and search for the drivers for your specific model (or do it directly via google).
