Hey folks! I have 2 DCs on my network, OCP and OCP2 and only one domain. I’d like to demote the second one but dcpromo is not working. The error message I get says something about “Directory Service failing to replicate off changes made locally… because of a DNS lookup failure.”. I don’t know how to fix this problem except by a forceremoval but I was hoping someone here could provide some other solution. Thanks!

I read about such problems somewhere but I don’t remember where. I just know that the problem you’re experiencing is probably caused by the fact that your main server’s DNS isn’t set to itself. I think that both DCs and workstations should point to internal DNS servers only and so should OCPs. Just set it this way and your OCP should be able to demote itself. I hope this helped you.
