I have recently bought another computer. Now I have two desktop computers and I will like to create home network so I am able to share files and play games over LAN. I have been searching around internet and found, basically, two options: making home network with router or with crossover cable. What option is better?

Hello. Creating a home network with router is definitely better option. First, router acts like hardware firewall and you computers will be protected from internet attacks. Second you can turn off one computer and still be able to access internet. Router ahs much more configuration options regarding network usage, security etc that you can not have if you connect two computers with crossover cable.
