| Hi there. I have borrowed the CD rom drive from a friend to do a clean install of windows XP on a very old computer. I was really careful when I was connecting the drive to that PC, and no matter that, the machine won’t recognize CD rom. I know that this drive is fully operational. I am 100% sure. I also know that I don’t know from where to start searching for the answer. Well, this also means that I am going to appreciate any help very much. Thanks in advance. |

| Hello. You could provide few more informations for the machine you are trying to install. That could help much, much more. Anyway, one of possible solutions maybe lies inside BIOS. Maybe you are going to set the drive parameters manually. The auto detection doesn’t work on some motherboards. Or, you just may need to change the jumper position settings on the CD rom drive it self and it all depends where it is attached. Is there a hard drive on the same IDE branch? |
