The message I get when I try updating XP is this: "Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page." What does this mean? I don't even know what Active X means, and I sure as hell didn’t disable it myself. Is this because I'm using the Firefox browser instead of Internet Explorer? I tried setting IE as the default browser, but that didn't help, the same problem occurs. Please help ASAP!

Mozilla Firefox blocks ActiveX controls by default, because they're not safe; as far as I know there's no way around this. However, using IE to access the same page should work; if it doesn't, then something else is causing the problem. Since you've started using Firefox, maybe you had your firewall restrict IE access to the internet? If so, try temporarily disabling the firewall, and letting IE handle the update from Microsoft's site.
