Tips on how to get rid of Yahoo Toolbar?

Sometimes programs we download or install on our PC aren’t what we expect and what we need. Sometimes those programs have been installed using sneaky ways, often with some other piece of software.
One of those programs is Yahoo! Toolbar.

Despite its functionality, it often has negative feedback from users who are often unsatisfied with its functions and service and then frustrated with being unable to remove it from their browsers. Also, it often uses other programs (CCleaner  for example) to be installed on computers using users’ carelessness and their automatic click on the Next button.
Because of that, it’s been often called Yahoo Malware.

Here are the few steps how to remove Yahoo! Toolbar from your browsers

Removing Yahoo! Toolbar from Microsoft Internet Explorer

First option is to uninstall it directly via the Toolbar

First close any open IE windows.
Select "Uninstall" from the Pencil button (Toolbar Settings).
Click "Uninstall" on the uninstall page.
Restart Internet Explorer

Option 2 is via the Control PanelAdd/Remove Programs

Again close any open IE windows.
Click the Windows "Start" button.
Select "Control Panel" from the "Settings" menu.
Double-click on "Add/Remove Programs".
Scroll down and click on the "Yahoo! Toolbar" entry.
Click on "Change/Remove."

Yahoo! Toolbar should be uninstalled. You have to start IE again and Y! Toolbar should be present no more.
Sometimes you’ll have to restart your PC, because IE is integrated with Windows.

Removing Yahoo! Toolbar from Mozilla Firefox

There are also two ways to remove the Yahoo! Toolbar for Mozilla Firefox.

The easiest way is to use the "Uninstall" menu item in the toolbar itself:

Click the Pencil menu.
Click "Uninstall".
Optionally you can enter any feedback to Yahoo! about why you're uninstalling the toolbar.
Click "Uninstall".
Restart your browser.

If that doesn't work (in most of the cases it will), you can also use the Extension Manager in Firefox to remove the Yahoo! Toolbar extension:

Click the "Tools" menu in the Firefox browser.
Click the "Extensions" menu item.
In the Extensions Manager window, scroll down until you find the Yahoo! Toolbar extension.
Click the Yahoo! Toolbar extension.
Click "Uninstall".
Click "OK" in the "Uninstall Yahoo! Toolbar" window.
Exit Extensions Manager and restart your browser.

Either one of these methods will uninstall Yahoo! Toolbar from your browser. If neither works, your user profile is corrupt. You might need to create a new user profile for your browser.

Recreating Mozilla Firefox Profile

If methods above don’t work, it might indicate that there is some problem with the Firefox user profile. To fix the problem, you will have to create a new Firefox user profile.

To do that do the following:

Close all windows of Firefox browser open on the desktop.
Open the "Start" menu and select "Run".
In the field, type "firefox.exe -ProfileManager" and press the OK button.
Select the existing corrupt profile and select the "Delete Profile" button to remove it.
After doing that, select the "Create Profile" button, and follow the instructions to create the new profile.

After creating the new profile, you may proceed to uninstall Yahoo! Toolbar using one of the methods above.

However if you like the functionality of Yahoo! Toolbar, instead of removing it, you can hide it or move the Toolbar so that it takes up less space in your browser.

Hiding Yahoo! Toolbar

First method is to right click on empty space on toolbar and uncheck the Yahoo! Toolbar. This will hide it.

Second, click "View" and select "Full Screen", so it will increase your viewing space and both browser toolbar and Yahoo! Toolbar will hide.
