My kingdom for a safe PC!

Imagine Shakespeare’s Richard III as a very successful entrepreneur today. He built his company carefully through the years. On that path of success, he used new technologies that helped him his business. Phones, faxes, all gadgets that simplified his work.

Lots of information important for his business are stored on his PC (desktop, laptop,...). He keeps all confidential info there, but being a man of instinct, he takes care about his security.
He protected his data with firewall; he installed some spy guards and finally closed all additional holes, so viruses cannot pass.
Just like his namesake from the past, who dug the trench around his castle, who put some guard to watch for the spies and intruders and to throw some hot oil on enemies below; and who closed all ruptures with wood, stone and tar, so plague cannot come in.
Just like before, when barrels of wine and sacks of wheat have been protected from the outside threat, today those are megabytes of vital importance for business and life. Megabytes that sometimes saves existence in the cruel world of rivalry.

We’re not too much different than our predecessors from the ancient societies. We evolved without any doubt, but still, despite all commodities we enjoy in, we follow Thomas Hobbes’ thought written in the opening of his Leviathan: “Man to Man is an arrant Wolfe” or “Homo Homini Lupus”.

Led by that thought, one attacks, while another protects own property, which changed measure, name and shape through the centuries, but never its value.

So, can Richard III, The Entrepreneur, be really safe? Has he closed all doors and gates? Are all the threats still outside?
Did he take care about backdoor spies, which cause a trouble and loss to many brave lords in the past?

Common problem with PC safety is that some doors are always left opened. Those doors are lead to our information, privacy and life, despite we dug our trenches, pointed arrows to outside and nailed planks to cover all the cracks on the wall.
Our back is still unprotected and weak.

No matter how much money we invest, it seems that we will never have a safe PC. It’s the rule of the cruel world of rivalry. Someone always wants to outflank our protection and to steal what is ours. What we built through the years.

Taking all of that into consideration, I can only imagine shout of the today’s Richard III, The Entrepreneur.

That shout would be probably the one from the title.

Instead of horse, he would ask for safe PC.
