There are many stuck-ups with favorite gaming console reset, from system failures, game updates or video resolution. All of them can cause a lot of headaches if user is stuck up with possible solution.
However, here are some tips how to solve this "Xbox 360 Reset" issue in different situations.
Clearing Failed System Updates That Cause Console Error
- Turn the console off and press and hold the Sync Up button.
- While holding the Sync button, press the Power button to turn the console on.
- Continue to hold the Sync button until the Console is booted up.
- During this boot process, the console should clear any failed updates.
Clearing All Installed Game Updates
- Go to the "System" blade
- Select "Memory"
- Press Y on the HD symbol
- Press X,X, Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X,X
- A message: "Do you want to perform maintenance on your Xbox 360 storage devices?" will appear
- Select “Yes”
If you’re still getting an error it could be probably a hardware failure.
The most common problem with the Xbox consoles is with video resolution. If you’re often playing with resolution using different video modes, cables, TV’s (when you’re bringing the console at the friend’s house), you may encounter a problem with video, i.e. video won’t show up. It’s because Xbox 360 does not revert back to VGA resolution as backup.
Here are the two possible solutions for this problem.
Reseting VGA Resolution on the XBox 360 – Solution 1
- HOLD D-Pad RIGHT until blade selection sounds stop, or 3 seconds (You are now at System Blade)
- HOLD D-Pad UP until menu selection sounds stop, or 3 seconds
- PRESS A (You are now in Console Settings)
- HOLD D-Pad UP until menu selection sounds stop, or 3 seconds
- PRESS A (You are now in Display)
- HOLD D-Pad DOWN until menu selection sounds stop, or 3 seconds
- PRESS A (You are now in Screen Format - If you get a "bonk" sound, skip next 2 steps)
- HOLD D-Pad UP until menu selection sounds stop, or 3 seconds
- PRESS A (You have just selected NORMAL Screen Format and have returned to Display)
- HOLD D-Pad UP until menu selection sounds stop, or 3 seconds
- PRESS A (You are now in Screen Resolution)
- HOLD D-Pad UP until menu selection sounds stop, or 3 seconds
- PRESS A (You have just selected 640 x 480)
After doing this, you should be able to see the video.
Or if not, you can optionally try this.
Reseting VGA Resolution on the XBox 360 – Solution 2
- Boot up your console and wait until it is fully loaded (wait at least 10 seconds).
- After the boot up process, press the left stick (color blue) for 3 seconds to the Right. You’ll enter the “System” menu.
- Click on the A-Button once. You have now selected the point “Console Settings” and you’re inside the console settings and the highlight is on “Display”.
- Now press your left stick (color blue) Up (3 or 4 times, just to be sure).
- You should press the A-Button once again.
- In this menu, press the left stick up at least four times and click the A-Button.
- You should now see this message and you can confirm it with “Yes, keep these settings”.
This will reset Xbox 360 resolution to minimum. Your next step should be setting the resolution to the optimum.
