OK, so it's finally happening. Got me a cheap hosting service, some decent-looking tutorials, and software I'm relatively comfortable in I can finally build my own website. (And wait for the money to start pouting in J/K) What do I need to keep in mind when adding contents to a site built for scratch? What should go where first, what can wait, do I start it off with bare-bones or do I wait until its just as I want it? I'm looking for words of wisdom from experienced webmasters here. Also, if there's any other general advice you might offer a new site builder, go right ahead.

The important thing about adding content to a newly built site is pace. You don't want to cram most of it in in just a few days, and then leave it alone for some time; instead, try adding new content in small packages, but often and regularly. That keeps the interest (once it gets going in the first place). Another thing to keep in mind is research; you need to establish if there are predecessors with the same idea out there, and if there are how are they doing it, and if there aren't is it because it doesn't work or because no one thought of it yet. Dont copy your competition, but learn from it.
In any case, just check out this guide: searchengineworld.com/misc/guide.htm
