I'm having trouble setting up a simple redirect routine using .htaccess. I assume it's supported, because it's such a basic call, but I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I found a tutorial over at the pcguide.com forum, and it doesn't help me track down the error. Is there a way to explain to me in simple terms how to code a redirect – as in, how to define the missing pages entry and target it toward the index page of the website? Thanks in advance, and pardon my ignorance.

Try this in the root of your .htaccess
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !forums/
RewriteRule .* [L,R=301]
Don't know what tutorial you're using, but I'd recommend this one for novice users: freewebmasterhelp.com/tutorials/htaccess/
