I want to buy a gaming machine as a birthday present for my son. I thought to buy him a computer. However, I recently read that Xbox have many advantages for the same or even less price then computer. How I am have a dilemma. I don't have enough experience to choose by myself. Can anybody help me with some information?

What to choose definitely depends on the age of your kid. If you son have less then 10 years then you can choose to buy him an Xbox. It is much easier to use and have the same multimedia potential as a computer. It can be used for playing games, watching DVD's, listening to the music and using the Internet. However, if your son is older or if you want him to learn something about computer using through gamin then I would absolutely choose computer. Xbox is just for fun and computer will give you much more additional stuff.
