This morning when I turned on my computer my windows XP wouldn’t boot up. I got the following error: “Windows cannot start because hal.dll is missing or corrupted”. Where can I get this file so my Windows works ok again? And how can I be sure this won’t happen again? Is it some virus issue?
On some other pc try to locate hal.dll file in system32 folder in windows directory. copy that file to a diskette and try to transfer it to your pc using NTFS boot disk (or windows XP boot floppy or something). I am not exactly sure which boot disk you need, but I know that you can’t access windows XP system files with plain old Win9x start up. WinNT/XP start up disk can be downloaded at bootdisk.com.
