Hello. I have joined two computers in my home. One of them is under Windows 98, and the other one is under Windows XP pro. Everything seems to work very nice, except the file sharing. When I try to browse some folder from the Win 98 machine, it all comes with some error message and the destination IP after, demanding a password from me, and I dont have any. The Win XP machine see everything perfect. Weird, isnt it? How to resolve this? Thanks in advance.

Hi. Is your XP machine formatted with NTFS or FAT32 file system? Check that because there are a lot of permissions implemented inside NTFS drive. And windows 98 does not know how to handle with the NTFS, because 98 cannot see the NTFS. Check your domain name is it completely the same as in the XP? Also, you can try to disable simple file sharing inside XP, as it may help.
