Huh, just need some info. I have dial up Internet connection for ages, now thinking to go on some higher lever of connection. But must confess I have no clue how the wireless one works. Is it the fastest, the best? I know if you have laptop then that is in a way option that you sometimes at least need to use. So what are the statistics on the matter of wireless speed, please do tell me?

On your huh I can only say for this question heh and hello! What speed will any wireless connection have depends on many factors. Must comment that many networks are always promising the fastest approach to the Internet and fastest downloads if you chose them, but promises very often a bit or a lot far from what you going to experience later .Maximum that wireless cards are advertising is 54Mbps, and I can tell never heard anyone who use wireless card bragging with that kind of speed. The wireless networking works on specified frequencies, which are also in use by some other devices (phones, microwaves, medical equipment, etc) that could interfere in the network signal. There are 3 networking standards providing different maximum speeds like 11Mbps (802.11b), 24Mbps (802.11a and 802.11g) and 54Mbps (802.11a), and none of them is actually hitting that maximum ever, cause there are many things that could slow up your connection. Some of them are as I already mentioned other devices that can interfere, architecture meaning too thick walls of your house/flat or position of the building, how many people are using the network and frequency you are using, distance from the access point, etc. You will have the best option if you are using the third standard and hoping that no other is using the same nor invade into your air because that means slowing up your speed. The best choice to buy so called a/b/g card which is card that supports all three standards and that way allowing you use them all and take the best out of three providing you the better speed that way. In general what I heard is that you should be happy if you get the 50% of the number they used for max possible speed which is mentioned that you are getting with buying their card .By they and their I mean manufacturers. Well I guess everyone is entitled to have dreams, and who knows maybe yours come true and you hit that 54Mbps!
