Wireless constantly disappears

Hi! I started using dsl internet about a week ago but I still can’t make it work properly. My connection keeps disappearing and I see no reason why this is happening. I have a two computers network: one is running Windows XP Media Center 2005 and other Windows 2000. Sometimes switching the router (Linksys BEFW11S4)for a few minutes helps but sometimes it does nothing. I’m using a westell modem. Does anyone here have a clue about what might be causing my problem? First of all, make sure that you’ve switched off the firewalls on both your computers. That is the most common cause for improper functioning of the internet when it comes to networked computers. The other thing that I can think of is that you may not have configured your modem well. I think that I’ve read it somewhere before that with the Westell modems there is a setting in the ‘configuration’ section where you need to check the ‘always on’ option if you want it to work OK.
