Ever since I replaced my old router with a wireless Netgear router, my connection drops after several hours of inactivity. Basically, I leave the computer for few hours, downloading something, and when I return the download seems to be progressing, but as soon as I press anything, it halts for a few seconds, then breaks the connection. No changes have been made in either Windows or network settings that would have anything to do with this. Is there something I'm missing in the router settings, then? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Sounds like a power management issue to me, but I imagine you've thought of that yourself already. Did you check the power management settings in Windows? Tried it without Stand-By and Hibernate modes, or the HD turning-off options? I ask because some connections don't enjoy being taken out of standby suddenly, so weird things can happen. Also, check the router's power management as well, though I can't tell you exactly where without knowing which model.
