I switched to a wireless router the other day, and I was surprised to find that there was a speed drop of some 50. That's not supposed to happen when switching from a wired to a wireless setup, is it? The hardware in question is a Netgear WGR614v5 wireless router.

No, it's not. What speed are we talking about here, exactly? Also, what kind of connection do you have (or had)? You have to give us something to work with here
