I am trying for several days to update Windows XP Professional. I click ScanNow, select updates I would like to install from the list and click Install Now. Just after this Windows update crashes and generates error "Windows Update Error. Windows Update has encountered an error and cannot display the requested page…. Error number 0x800A138F". Bottom line is that I have windows update failure every time I try to update. Do you know how to fix this problem?

This is a known bug in Windows update that was introduced after MSBlaster infection when Microsoft changed the way of updating. To fix this issue with Windows update failure you will have to clean temporary internet files, cookies and history from Internet Explorer. You can do all this in General tab in Internet Options. You can access to Internet Options from Tools menu in Internet Explorer.
