Windows firewall not preventing a thing

I’m disappointed with Windows firewall because it doesn’t seem to prevent anything! What are your experiences with it? My PC contracted several viruses despite the fact that firewall is constantly on and I don’t know why it is recommended to keep it on constantly. I think that I’ll install some other, commercial firewall, because there’s no use of this one.

Are you saying that Windows default firewall is the only protection you’ve been using? Now that’s nit very clever of you! You must install some antivirus software and if you’re constantly on the internet, a commercial firewall. Windows firewall is used only as an additional means of protection. And it’s important to update it on a regular basis. I remember that it had a patch for that Blaster virus and I can’t say that it’s completely useless. But it’s of vital importance to have a good antivirus program. I use Kaspersky and it’s great in my opinion. Or you can buy Nod32. I think that there’s no need to have two firewalls, so you can turn Windows firewall when you get another one.
