I tried updating Windows XP for the first time the other day (auto update was turned off for some reason), and it didn't really work out. It hanged on 0 for quite a while so I left, and when I came back an hour or two later it said: "Windows Update Error. Windows Update has encountered an error and cannot display the requested page. Error no. 0x800C0005". Any thoughts?

The error code 0x800C0005 means that the Win Update process could not access the servers. This can be due to one of two things: One, the servers were crowded and could not respond to your update attempt; not likely, but try again later. Two, your firewall or ISP were blocking traffic, presumably temporarily.
