When I try to boot Windows XP Professional edition I receive following error: NTLDR is missing. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart.. Of course, I am unable to boot Windows and my computer is as good as dead. I do not know if I have deleted this file by accident because I was copying and deleting many files during past few days. What am I going to do?
NTLDR is missing error can be caused by lot of things and one of them, according to Microsoft, is when root folder of boot device is heavily fragmented. This fragmentation can occur after copying and deleting many files to and from root folder which is the case with you. You can contact Microsoft Product Support Services and they will send you Bcupdate2.exe utility which will solve your problem.
