I have bought some DVDs and tried to play them in Windows Media Player. But Windows Media Player refused to do this. I do not know why, but I heard that Windows Media Player can play DVD. I guess I am doing something wrong but I can not find out. I am running Windows XP Professional and Windows Media Player 10. Can you tell me what to do?

Windows Media Player can play DVDs, just like many more multimedia players. But they all need codec to do so. There are several codecs available for making Windows Media Player available to play DVD. Some are commercial (you should avoid this. I do not understand why should I pay for codec) and lot more are free. Download some codec bundle like K-Lite codec pack and you will be able to watch DVD in Windows Media Player.
